Introduction
Dr. Ineke Roex studied anthropology at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. Her thesis was about the Arab-European League (AEL) in Belgium. In 2007-2009 she participated in a research program about salafism in the Netherlands. In 2009-2011 she worked at FORUM, Institute for multicultural affairs, as a researcher in the context of the special FORUM Frank Buijs chair on radicalisation studies with Prof. Frank Bovenkerk. She has participated in a programme of education and research on the evaluation of the effectiveness of anti-radicalisation policies. Her dissertation 'Leven als de profeet in Nederland. Over de salafi-beweging en democratie' is based on her anthropological fieldwork in the salafi movement in the Netherlands. She is currently involved in a research project focusing on islamic activism in western Europe.
