Education

Jeroen Hinloopen holds an MSc in Econometrics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam (1993) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute (1997).

Experience

Prior to joining the University of Amsterdam he has been affiliated with the University of Copenhagen and Delft University of Technology. He has also worked as a policy advisor at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, and at the Dutch Central Bank.

Expertise

Jeroen Hinloopen's area of expertise is Industrial Organization, the sub-branch of economics that studies the working of imperfectly competitive markets, on which he has published widely. He is also the leading author of a widely used economics teaching method for the upper level of the Dutch high school curriculae havo and vwo. Since 2010 he writes a column for Dutch economics high school teachers in Tijdschrift voor het Economisch Onderwijs.

Jeroen Hinloopen is married with a daughter and a son.
