Geert Janssen is hoogleraar Vroegmoderne Geschiedenis en voorzitter van de Afdeling Geschiedenis, Europese Studies, Religiewetenschappen en CEDLA.
Als historicus heb ik een brede interesse in de geschiedenis van Europa tussen 1500-1800, in het bijzonder haar politieke en religieuze cultuur en de geschiedenis van (mondiale) migratie. Mijn huidige onderzoek gaat over vluchtelingen en humanitaire cultuur. Daarnaast behoren onderwerpen als de Tachtigjarige oorlog, de Nederlandse Republiek en ('gouden') zeventiende eeuw tot mijn expertise.
