Job description

The Amsterdam Business School seeks to fill multiple positions as Assistant professor in Leadership & Management. The new tenure-track Assistant professors are expected to strengthen the position of the Leadership & Management group by contributing to its further development. We are looking for ambitious high-potential candidates who take both research and teaching seriously and have published, or are about to publish, in top-tier international journals. Candidates with an HR analytics focus or a (quantitative) Organizational Behaviour focus are preferred, but candidates from other relevant or related subfields are also encouraged to apply. The position involves teaching in English at the undergraduate, M.Sc., or MBA levels, and potentially in the executive education programs. The Section Leadership & Management is currently responsible for teaching in the BSc. and MSc. of Business Administration, including thesis supervision, and also teaches in part-time and MBA programs. Further tracks and executive education may be developed in the future. We expect candidates to be excellent researchers and teachers with passion for teaching as well as research, preferably with teaching experience, an active research portfolio, willingness to actively participate in our research seminar series, visibility at major conferences, strong ties to the international research community, and with the willingness to perform service roles within the ABS and the field. Research time is 50% and allocated according to standardized faculty and tenure track procedures.

To qualify for the position, a candidate should:

  • hold a PhD in Organizational Behaviour, Leadership, Management, HR or a related discipline (candidates at the very final stage of their PhD program may be considered for the Assistant professor position);
  • be well trained in research methodology (quantitative or qualitative);
  • have authored publications that appeared in international top-tier journals, or are about to;
  • have excellent teaching skills;
  • possess a relevant international academic network;
  • be enthusiastic about participation in teaching as well as broader research activities (e.g. seminar series);
  • be willing to contribute to the success of ABS as well as the active teaching and research culture of the section in service or coordination roles.
