Keti Koti Dialogue at your own kitchen table

Celebrate and commemorate the abolition of slavery, also known as Keti Koti

July 1 (1863) marks the official abolition of slavery in the former Dutch colonies Suriname and the Dutch Antilles. This day is commemorated annually and this year, in collaboration with the Keti Koti Table foundation, we are once again organising an online Keti Koti dialogue table which you can join from your own home.

The Keti Koti Table foundation will facilitate a two-course meal sent to your address and an online dialogue with all participants. This is a unique opportunity to engage in the issues that many of us need to educate ourselves about. Keti Koti is a peacebuilding tool that has been praised throughout the Netherlands for the last 10 years.

Last year the dialogue was a great success; more than 100 bags were picked up. This year UvA students and employees can have a free Keti Koti table bag with a ready-made two-course meal sent to them and participate in a guided dialogue table from home. The Keti Koti bags are sponsored by the CDO. The deadline to sign up is 25 June 2021.
