With the war still raging terribly in Ukraine, our academic community is also being touched by the violence, sacrifice, emotions and different perspectives involved. Since all of us bring multiple dimensions of identity to the university, tensions may arise because of the distinct affiliations with conflicting parties some of us may have. How to avoid the conflict spilling over to our community? As you can read in our memo, the UvA Diversity Officers believe we must both acknowledge this multiplicity of identities, while recognizing that our shared  interest in scientific research and education is what brings us together.
