Located in the historic heart of Amsterdam, the Faculty of Humanities maintains intensive contacts with many partners in culture, society and business. This makes it part of a humanities hub of international stature.
Organisation
The Faculty of Humanities is organised along the lines of staff, research and education.
Research Schools
The wide range of research in the humanities at the University of Amsterdam takes place within six research schools. Five of these together form the Amsterdam Institute for Humanities Research (AIHR). One of them, the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC), is an interfaculty research institute of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Science.
Disciplines
The faculty covers a broad spectrum of established and pioneering teaching and research: from languages, literary studies, history and philosophy to media studies, arts, religious studies and archaeology.
