Working at the FMG

The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) is the largest education and research institute in the field of social and behavioural sciences in Europe.

It provides an inspiring environment for study, research and employment to students, teaching staff, researchers and others from the Netherlands and abroad. The FMG employs 1,600 people to further its teaching and research activities.

The faculty strives for a diverse and inclusive work and study environment. We believe not only in the self-evidence of equality of opportunity, but also that different backgrounds and experiences can enrich academic teaching and research practice. We have a commitment to diversity and a mission to be a place where everyone feels at home. We foster enquiring minds and persevering spirits, and offer the space to question.

This means that we welcome to our workforce everyone who has the talent and the competences to help us achieve the objectives of our teaching and research programmes.

The FMG puts diversity into practice in a variety of ways, among other things through its hiring practices. As an example, we currently give preference to female applicants for the positions of associate professor and full professor. In practice, this means that if a male and a female applicant have the same qualifications for a position as an associate or full professor in a department that employs more men than women, the position will be offered to the female applicant.
