The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) consistently scores highly in international rankings. Below is a short summary of the FMG’s position in some of the major rankings.

Times Higher Education World University Rankings

Social Sciences of the University of Amsterdam secured 26th place in the subject ranking of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-2017 (the highest ranked university of continental Europe in this field). 

QS World University Ranking by Subject

In the QS World University Ranking by Subject (2015), various Faculty disciplines have secured top positions: Communication and Media Studies is in 2nd place, Psychology in 17th place, Geography in 16th place, Sociology in 14th place, Antrhopology in 14th place, Education in 23rd place and Political Sciences in 33rd place.

Leiden Ranking

In the Leiden Ranking 2016 (CWTS) Social Sciences and Humanities is ranked 8th worldwide and in Europe 3rd (also the best result of any mainland European university in this discipline.)
