Legal affairs
With regard to any decisions concerning students and employees, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) offers these parties the opportunity to lodge an objection to such a decision or to submit their dispute to a designated body.
Students
Students can object to decisions made by the Executive Board, for example about their enrolment or about paying tuition fees. The Executive Board then submits the objections for advice to an independent committee, the Arbitration Committee for Student Objections.
Appeals made by students against decisions of examination boards, examiners, binding study advice (BSA) committees and admission committees are heard by the Examination Appeals Board.
Employees can submit disputes with the employer to the Arbitration Committee for Members of Staff. Such disputes must relate to one of the subjects mentioned in the regulation on disputes. The Arbitration Committee for Members of Staff will issue written recommendations to the Executive Board.
