The UvA takes privacy and the protection of personal data very seriously. The UvA carefully handles data from employees, students, research participants and other persons involved in the UvA.
Already in 2003 the UvA was active with a project aimed at introducing measures relating to the Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp). The UvA has also prepared well for its successor, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and various measures have been embedded in the UvA processes. The UvA will continue to anticipate the developments with respect to the GDPR.
The GDPR is a step forward in the field of personal data protection and gives citizens throughout the European Union more authority and rights over their data. The GDPR entered into force on 25 May 2018.
