Mr R. (Rob) Becker MBA

Member of the UvA Supervisory Board

Mr Becker has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the University of Amsterdam since 26 August 2016. He was reappointed in 2020 by the Minister of Education, Culture and Science until 26 August 2024. Becker is chair of the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board.

Rob Becker (1965) studied Physics at the UvA and Economic Sciences at Columbia University (New York), and was awarded an MBA at INSEAD (Fontainebleau).

From 1990 until 2005 he worked at McKinsey in the United Kingdom, China, Singapore and the Netherlands, fulfilling various positions including that of business analyst and engagement manager, and serving as partner from 1999 onwards. He then moved to Achmea to become CFO of the Pensions division; his most recent position was Director of the Direct Distribution division and member of the Achmea Group Committee.

Becker has been active as supervisory officer of various institutions, including the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets and Zorg van de Zaak. Currently he is involved as:

  • Non-Executive Director, AXA UK, London
  • Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Red Cross hospital in Beverwijk
  • Member of the Board of Amnesty The Netherlands
  • Chair of the Advisory Board of the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce
  • Independent board advisor, DGA Becker Management, Consulting & Investments bv
