In his inaugural lecture as professor by special appointment of Sustainable Energy Technology, Bob van der Zwaan will argue that our energy systems must be radically changed, and research into energy technology intensified. Only then can a solution be offered for climate change. Applied and fundamental research will hereby necessitate a multidisciplinary approach.
