Plant viruses are interesting and important pathogens in food crops. Elementary knowledge about these viruses and virus infections are necessary to safeguard our food crops and our future food supply. This will be the central premise of Marcel Prins’s inaugural lecture as professor by special appointment of Phytopathology.
