Hundreds of thousands of people in the Netherlands are donors. They voluntarily donate blood or tissue to save the lives of others, or to give a better quality of life to those in need. In his inaugural lecture as professor by special appointment of Donor Medicine, Wim Kort will, however, argue that the donor does not exist.
