The use of ICT in healthcare is currently still called TeleMedicine (or eHealth) because it is new and novel. This is topical, but in five years this term will be outdated and the term Medicine (or Health) will once again be used. ICT, the Internet, will again be a natural part of healthcare. This will be the central premise of Leonard Witkamp’s inaugural lecture as professor by special appointment of Telemedicine.
