Cultural studies scholars must, from an awareness of the contingency of professional or disciplinary boundaries between the arts, sciences and politics, analyse how the arts and sciences are themselves political, and show how aesthetic experience can play a role in processes surrounding public perceptions and judgements. That is the message of René Boomkens’s inaugural lecture.
R.W. Boomkens, professor of Cultural Studies, specialising in cultural history and perspectives: Smile or Die! Over de toekomst van de cultuurwetenschappen.
This event is open to the public.
