In his inaugural lecture Udo Reijnders argues that forensic medicine should be integrated into academic medical studies, and that the government should help facilitate this. This is because, in the course of their work, physicians and specialists as well as paramedics and other health care professionals are likely to encounter aspects of forensic medicine such as violence, physical and sexual abuse and natural and unnatural causes of death.
