Mirjam Nijdam explores the ‘traces’ that are engraved by a traumatic experience in memory when the trauma survivor has developed posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Certain details of the traumatic experience are remembered extensively by these survivors and may continue to show up in their mind in the form of flashbacks and nightmares, accompanied by intense emotions.
