Anke Tijsen investigates three aspects of microRNAs (miRNAs) in cardiac biology. miRNAs regulate gene expression by binding to the 3’ untranslated region (3’UTR) of messenger RNAs (mRNAs), resulting in repression of translation into protein. Tijsen also examines the role of miRNAs in hypertrophy and cardiac diseases.
