A dead region in the cochlea is a type of severe hearing impairment, which can be defined as a functional loss of inner hair cells (IHC). A correct clinical diagnosis is important for determining the correct treatment for patients. For his PhD dissertation, Bastiaan Warnaar examines the various methods for measuring dead regions.
