To control infectious diseases effectively and influence the epidemiology of disease in a population, timely surveillance and focused epidemiological studies are required which inform public health actions as problems evolve. For her PhD dissertation, Jane Whelan aims to demonstrate the application of epidemiological studies to inform primary and secondary preventative strategies for infectious disease control.
