A growing number of politicians and urban planners are embracing Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) as a solution in the area of sustainable urban development and mobility patterns. According to the principles of TOD, the public transport system serves as the backbone and driving force behind urban development. The method is designed to promote compact urban development, economic vitality and the use of public transport. Wendy Tan is currently researching the institutional aspects of TOD strategies and identifying effective implementation strategies.
