Visual acuity measurement is only one part of eye quality. It regularly offers an inadequate explanation for patients’ complaints. Another important factor in visual processing is light scattering in the eye, which could lead to blurred vision, problems with facial recognition and night blindness whilst driving. When determining an operational indication, it is important to know the cause for visual complaints. Ivanka van der Meulen focuses on determining the amount of scattered light in eyes with various anterior segment disorders.
