Digital forensic research concerns the acquisition, recovery and analysis of information stored on digital data devices for the purpose of answering legal questions. By using specific software, large amounts of digital forensic research can automatically be performed much more quickly. For his PhD dissertation, Jeroen van den Bos explores model-driven software engineering (MDSE) and presents analyses and experiments that were performed in order to discover the benefits and costs of applying this specific type of software.
