The quality of the legal system is not automatically guaranteed when judges apply the law in an impartial manner. The legal system is more fragile that is generally assumed, argues Iris van Domselaar. In her PhD thesis, Van Domselaar names a number of professional qualities which judges need for making a good judgment.
