Hugh McDonnell analyses the ‘spaces’ in Paris in the aftermath of World War Two. The city of Paris is where ideas about Europe were formulated, exchanged, disseminated and contested. The period which is explored, spans the period between the outbreak of the Cold War and the end of the Algerian War. The term ‘space’ is broadly understood and encompasses the academic world, political movements and cultural groups.
