Barret’s esophagus is a condition caused by gastro-esophageal reflux in which the normal squamous epithelium in the distal esophagus has been replaced by columnar lined epithelium containing intestinal metaplasia upon biopsy. Lorenzo Alvarez Herrero evaluates the role of advanced imaging around endoscopic therapy, as well as explores the further possibilities of endoscopic therapy of early neoplasia (i.e. high-grade dysplasia and early cancer) in Barret’s esophagus.
