Henrique de Oliveira Cabral records the activities of ‘ensembles’ of neurons from the CA1 area of the hippocampus in normal and NR1-KO mice. His goal is two-fold: to characterise CA1 place cells and network patterns of activity during different behavioural states in a navigation task and to characterise how the lack of the NMDAR affects CA1 functioning.
