The reduction problem is concerned with the question of how different explanatory levels in science are related to one another. In his PhD thesis, Roger Kievit approaches the reduction problem in a novel way, focusing on the use of statistical models to relate properties of the brain to psychological properties. This is done by using a psychometric approach.
