Karen Kraaier focuses on patients with known structural heart disease who may be at increased risk for ventricular arrhythmia (VIA). In these patients, the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) can prevent mortality due to VA. Kraaier’s main focus is on the search for better risk stratification in potential ICD patients (mainly focused on primary intervention) to reduce the number of unnecessary implantations.
