In his doctoral thesis Peter Fahner describes experiments involving the applicability of vascular grafts preserved in glycerol as an alternative for existing vascular preservation methods and for synthetic vessels in peripheral arterial revascularisation (restoration of the blood supply). The frequency of peripheral arterial disorders requiring vascular reconstruction is growing. One of the objectives of his research is to find evidence for the use of the best alternative vascular grafts in peripheral arterial reconstruction. He also aims to establish a standard method for glycerol-preserved arterial grafts.
