Because of the high incidence of chronic fibroproliferative disease and the related mortality, better understanding of the underlying mechanisms is needed in order to pursue better anti-fibrotic drugs that are both safe and effective in limiting and eliminating fibrotic disease without affecting normal healing of tissue. To obtain such insight, Jan Willem Duitman investigates the role of C/EBP and the protease activated receptors (PARs) during fibrotic disease.
