Birthe Jongeneel-Grimen is looking at the extent to which differences in health between poor and affluent neighbourhoods can be explained by selective migration. She is also researching whether changes in specific characteristics of the neighbourhood environment, including green spaces and social cohesion, influence the health of residents. Finally, Jongeneel-Grimen is looking at the impact of a large-scale improvement programme, the ‘Neighbourhood Approach’, on public health in the 40 most-deprived neighbourhoods in the Netherlands.
