For various reasons, asylum seekers and refugees are considered to be a vulnerable group with respect to their health. However, there is still limited information on the distribution of health problems and risk factors among asylum seekers and refugees, in the Netherlands as well as in other countries. Simone Goosen aims to describe the distribution of diseases and conditions among asylum seekers in the Netherlands and to analyse a number of risk factors that affect their health. Based on this knowledge and the scientific literature, Goosen explores the implications for policies and practices aimed at the promotion of the health of asylum seekers and refugees.
