Ageeth Rosman and Floortje Vlemmix focus on the improvement of care for women with a term foetus in breech presentation in order to improve maternal and neonatal outcome. The results they present emphasise the importance of external cephalic version (ECV) – an obstetrical intervention that has been proven to reduce the number of breech presentations – as successful versions reduce the rate of planned vaginal breech delivery, and planned as well as emergency caesarean sections with the associated morbidity and mortality for both mother and child.
