Airin Simon focuses on optimising treatment for type 2 diabetes. Simon evaluates short-term risk (hypoglycaemia) and long-term risk (cancer) of sulfonylurea derivatives and insulin are reviewed the (dis)advantages of the long-acting insulin analogues, insulin glargine and insulin detemir. In addition, she investigates the feasibility, safety and efficacy of an e-health application with computerised decision support to support patients in performing insulin titration.
