The solar surface is a perfect example of magnetic fields’ behaviour in astrophysics. Irina Thaler investigates a number of issues concerning the magnetohydrodynamics of the solar surface. She also explores, among other things, the effects of magnetic fields on the brightness of the sun, as well as the way in which the magnetic field that appears during the course of the solar cycle on the sun’s surface disappears again.
