Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumour that, despite intensive therapy, has a poor prognosis, especially in high risk patients. New therapeutic options are therefore needed to improve the outcome of these patients. Fenretinide is a promising new therapy currently tested in different tumours including neuroblastoma. Roosmarijn Cuperus unravels the apoptosis-inducing mechanism of fenretinide in neuroblastoma and identifies targets for combination therapy.
