Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major problem in public health worldwide. Despite persistent efforts over the last 125 years, there is a lack of a simple and reliable tool for the rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis in resource-limited settings. Recent advances in biomarker discovery open new options for the development of reliable TB tests.
