The literal Achilles heel of adults and children consists of a number of disorders: ankle impingement, (insertional) tendinopathy, retrocalcaneal bursitis and calcaneal apophysitis. Jan Joost Wiegerinck provides insight into the figurative Achilles heel of the human body: the Achilles tendon insertion and its surrounding structures and pathologies. Besides discussing the structures and troublesome annotation thereof, Wiegerinck evaluates new diagnostic options and assessments and explores the treatment of adults with Achilles tendon related pathologies.
