Shanna Haaker focuses on topological phases in condensed matter systems from a theoretical physics point of view. Haaker combines relevant theories to the quantum Hall effect (a kind of state in which matter exists). She hereby investigates cold atom systems, in which a cloud of cold atoms can behave in such a way that it mimics the traits of a quantum Hall system.
