Alexa Laheij studies the consequences of cancer therapy for oral health. More specifically, she studies the protein composition of saliva after radiotherapy to the head and neck area, the link between oral microbiome and oral and systemic complications after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and the influence of oral bacteria, and particularly ‘porphyromonas gingivalis’, on wound healing.
