Knowledge about the mortality of (cardiac) diseases is important to educate patients and their relatives, to establish and optimise the effectiveness of treatment and screening, and to inform patients about reproductive choices. Eline Nannenberg throws light on the mortality of different inherited cardiac diseases, the effect of ascertainment bias on the results of reported mortality in literature, and the results of 15 year prenatal diagnosis and preimplantation genetic diagnosis for inherited cardiac diseases in the Netherlands.
