People suffering from extreme obesity are increasingly turning to bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery). One of the most commonly performed bariatric procedures is the gastric bypass operation, which reduces the size of the stomach. A gastric band is another bariatric surgical procedure. In her research Funda Çelik describes the various consequences of bariatric surgery, focusing on venous thrombus and bleeding complications.
