The Janissary uprising in May 1622 during which the Ottoman sultan Osman II lost his life was sensational news both for the Ottomans and the West. Numerous articles, poems and tragic plays describing the event surfaced in the months following the rebellion. Irena Ajdinović analyses five texts about the event in which she identifies stereotypes about politics, ethnicity and religion.
