The rate of urbanisation in the Netherlands increased greatly after the end of World War Two. Population growth led to more demand for housing, while the average size of families decreased. Pieter van der Heijde explores the kinds of power relations between actors involved in urban development which have determined the existing supply of real property in new urban centres in the Netherlands.
