A stent is a tubular prosthesis that is introduced into a hollow organ to ensure sufficient transit of its contents. Maarten van den Berg focuses on stent placement throughout the gastrointestinal tract. In search of ideal stents for treatment of malignant oesophageal stenosis and gastric outlet obstruction, Van den Berg evaluates new stent designs in prospective cohort studies.
