The mucoralean genus Rhizopus plays an important role in our daily lives through the food industry (fermentation) and healthcare (as cause of acute, invasive infections). Somayeh Dolatabadi studies molecular, protein-based and other experimental methods to answer taxonomic and phylogenetic questions in these fungi. She hereby focuses on two specific types: Rhizopus arrhizus and Rhizopus miscrosporus.
