Medical devices are often made from metals or alloys containing, inter alia, palladium (Pd), gold (Au) and platinum (Pt). Within the field of dentistry, these precious metals are used for their good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The side-effect of Pd-based dental restorations are, however, related to palladium allergy. Joris Muris investigates this allergy.
